What is Joe Flacco’s Trade Situation?
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens and the Broncos reached a principal agreement on a trade that would send QB Joe Flacco to the Mile High City. Schefter also reported that the Ravens would likely receive a mid-round draft pick in return. However, the trade cannot be official until the NFL’s 2019 calendar year begins on March 13. Until then, the league forbids teams from commenting publicly on the details of a trade in the works.
Once the trade becomes official in March, this deal marks an end to Joe Flacco’s 11-season run as Ravens QB. In addition, the trade also means the beginning of an era for new QB and former Heisman Trophy Winner Lamar Jackson. For the later part of the 2018 season, the Ravens benched Flacco in favor of Jackson (who went 6-2 since taking over the role including playoffs). What was the main reason for the benching? Jackson performed so well in taking over as QB after Flacco suffered a hip injury during the team’s Week 9 divisional loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
