Now that the 2019 MLB Season is almost here, now is the time to start speculating in terms of which General Managers (GM) will be on the hot seat. Even though 2019 Opening Day is a couple months from now, it’s never too early to evaluate each GM’s situation entering the new season. First, let’s reveal which general managers appeared to be safe from the hot seat:

GMs that are Safe from the Hot Seat

Alex Anthopoulos (Braves)

  • Reached the Playoffs for the First Time Since 2013
  • Signed INF Josh Donaldson in Free Agency

David Frost (Athletics)

  • Second Half Surge Led to First Playoff Appearance Since 2014
  • Signed RHP Marco Estrada in Free Agency

Erik Neander (Rays)

  • First 90+ Win Season Since 2013
  • Looking for First Playoff Appearance Since 2013
  • Acquired OF Tommy Pham From Cardinals at 2018 Trade Deadline
  • Signed OF Avisail Garcia in Free Agency

Matt Klentak (Phillies)

  • Finished in 3rd Place in NL East (80-82) in 2018
  • Phillies Contended for NL East with Braves and National in 2018
